MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has made it clear that the online Sabong or popularly known as the “e-sabong” is not in any way connected to the agency.
“E-Sabong” has been very popular lately due to the quarantine and lockdown classifications set by the government in battling the spread of the COVID-19 infections.
PCSO likewise reminded the public to be aware of the certain groups or individuals using the name of PCSO with e-sabong. Should they find anybody doing such, PCSO encouraged to report to the nearest police authorities to impose proper action.
What is e-sabong?
Just at the comfort of one’s home, electronic sabong (e-sabong) is an electronic placing of bets on live cockfighting. It is the fight of two (2) roosters in an arena.
Is e-sabong legal in the Philippines?
It can be legal if it has a license to operate and illegal if none.
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has its department specifically for e-sabong called E-Sabong Licensing Deparment or the ESLD.
They are the in charge of issuing the licenses for the conduct of e-sabong operations, development of the regulatory framework and processing of applications for the legalization of the online sabong.
